How do you stop dissociation?

@SeekingAfrica I think that’s great provided you feel SAFE sharing that and that you feel like you have a CHOICE.

I had a flashback last week in the midst of talking to my Mum on the phone. I really was a bit of a mess. My partner was there and didn’t have any clue what was going on but tried his best. The next day I put two and two together - as in I didn’t realise until then that I’d had a visual flashback and an intense emotional response. The following day I discussed it with my psydoc. A few days later - once I’d kinda processed it - I raised it with my partner. I prefaced the discussion by saying “I don’t want to discuss the content and I need to tell you this without emotion. I need you to not react to what I’m telling you.” Then I described the chain of events and told him the things he did that had helped me. I was so grateful that he let it rest there.
