How Much Time Do You Spend Talking To Your Animals?

It seems like I spend a large amount of my day talking to our animals. I was just talking to our little girl cat Sonja who is lying next to me and our part-time dog Gunner who's a few feet away from me, and thought, jeez, I spend a lot of time talking to these guys.

Anyone else?

There was recently an article on The Washington Post about how dogs can recognize so many words. It is so true.

I've read that the average dog has an understanding of a few hundred words. I know it didn't take long before we had to stop saying "walk" in front of Misha because she would get super excited. Then we started spelling it. Before long, she picked that up, too. Finally, we didn't say anything near her and tried to be careful to not betray body language, but she still picked up when we were thinking about taking her for a walk.

We talk to our animals all the time.

Welcome, Annie! I'm so glad you have your doggies :-). I hug and kiss all our animals every day, too. Except for Sonja, who is kind of aloof and just likes to climb on Mom and Dad when we're in bed at night so we can pet her, lol.

I definitely talk more to my dogs than most people. I prefer talking to them, they listen and don't judge. But its even easier to speak their language. We are in constant communication, even if I'm not saying anything. Communicating with animals is SOOOOOO much easier and less stressful!!
