I'm about to get help with my memory problems as they are really affecting my work - getting reports signed off by the boss - then giving them to him again to sign off when he already had, completely forgetting about reports I had already done and not even remembering once reminded, forgetting important conversations at work then trying to have the exact same conversation again... it's getting ridiculous. I can't follow complex conversations anymore and I don't seem to be able to retain things temporarily e.g. looking up a date for something and writing it in my diary - I have to check it several times before I get it right. It's really bad.
I'm wondering if I should tell my boss about the PTSD and memory problems, but I'm really worried I'll lose my job. But then if I don't tell him, I'm worried I'd lose it anyway. I'm getting along with meticulous note taking, but it's getting a little unmanageable.
I'm waiting for my first appointment with a specialist - does anyone know how long these memory problems can last? Can it be a matter of months, or could it be years? How long can this go on for? Could it get worse?? It seems to have got a lot worse over the last few months. It's really getting me down as I love my job and don't want to lose it.
Seems like there are lots of us going through similar things with our memories, it really is scary, but good to know others are in the same boat. Any advice or experiences on whether to tell your employer would be really appreciated.
Many thanks
