Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm just having a really hard time lately. Challenging negative thinking patterns is HARD! Especially when I feel so crappy.
I don't regret calling the cops on my idiot neighbor, it's just the fallout from it that's been so hard. I can't believe that I'm being blamed for something that SHE did! It's infuriarating! Oh well. Whatever.

Doing the right thing often does not get approval, let alone praise. I totally agree with reading the info on thinking styles. Often we live with groups of people that do not agree with what we do-even if what we are doing is the healthiest thing. ie-in my neighborhood now, nobody would criticize what you did. Where I lived 30 yrs ago, which was income based housing, I would be considered a snitch for doing that. That is why I have focused/designed my life to be around others that I feel more similiar with.
In my family of origin, I was rejected for practicing though love with my oldest daughter. Other groups understand this, such as Alanon, college friends, etc.
If you follow the readings on changing your thinking and work on that, you will become more confident in the actions that come from what you value regardless of others. You may discover that those that are very sensative to anything you say or mistakes you make are reacting to their own stuff more than anything that you have done. You might even outgrow some people in your life. With every door that closes, another door with better opportunity will open.
