My handicapped girls are in their late twenties. There is a community we belong to here in our area.
We go to functions locally. This particular one happens around various holidays. There are various group homes and other facilities and programs.
One of the kids we've known since pre school,a peer of my daughters,was without her usual "date" which is just a joke because these people are not adult enough behaviourally to have "relationships." She kept walking up to where I was sitting and looking at me like they do, so cute. I was like "would you like to dance honey?" And she'd just laugh and walk away.
I followed my daughter to the floor and when our friend saw us she came right over. The three of us danced (not real dancing lol kinda holding hands and swaying) a couple songs and the friend hi fives me a few times then went back to doing her own thing like she does. Like they all do.
I don't dance. I've never gotten up. My wife and I have only danced a couple times in all these years.
It was nice. I was not so self conscious I had to stay sitting down. It was nice to stand up with them.
