and a fine accomplishment that is! ! ! kudos! ! ! may the accomplishment lead you healing places. ol' petey seems to have helped more people than i can count with that one, little book.

care to share? for my recovery nickel, the sharing is the most important piece of psychotherapy, the diversity of perspectives that can come from reading the same material never ceases to amaze me.

I appreciate your kudos! Haha. Sorry could you clarify more on ol' petey?

i had already "graduated" to "therapy maintenance" by the time pete walker published his now famous book in 2013 and i still haven't read the book, myself, but so many of my sibs-in-healing are raving about the book that i feel like he has become a member of the family. the group discussions of the book have been consistently impressive. i tease my sibs-in-healing by calling him, "ol' petey."

Got it now. Very nice of you. Would you be willing to share what you find helpful along your journey before your "graduation". I'm curious.

what a long, strange trip it has been. i started that journey in earnest at age 17 in my quest to escape the 1972 throwaway kid camps. the ptsd theories did not coalesce until the turn of the millennium. here in 2025 i often feel like sharing that adventure requires a transition dictionary from 20th century psychodialect to 21st century psychodialect. nearly all of the names have changed and 21st century shrinks are still creative expostulators. their theories vary even more than the political theories. in sharing my experience, i find it far easier to share that in small responses to specific questions.

but this morning you have me wondering if curiosity has been my most helpful tool. it's okay if theory "a" argues with theory "b." i'm still curious enough to investigate. i take what works for me and leave the rest. it's good to keep an open mind, but not so open that my brain falls out.
