I Got Laid Off From My Job Today

I was laid off from my job today. We didn't get a really huge project we were bidding on and needed, so there isn't a lot of work coming up...meaning not much need for my position (Project Assistant for a plumbing/HVAC contractor, doing mostly project submittals and operating/maintenance manuals). I've been in the construction industry for some time, and I've also been pretty bored lately, so I know the truth of the situation as much as the project managers do. It has nothing to do with the coworker issues I've been having, that much is clear. I'm eligible for rehire, and it sounds like they're interested in having me back when they pick up again. We'll see where I'm at by then... :smile:

On that note, we are now going out of town for a 3-day weekend on a trip we'd already had planned. I'm really glad I found out today...my one boss (the one I like) insisted on telling me today, personally, instead of putting it off. I very much appreciate that.

Sorry to hear Mina. Some Nicolette often finds with work, as one door closes another opens in your life. Lets hope that the opening doors provide more positive outlook.

Hey Mina, you're managing the best anyone could, bravo. Good thing you have the weekend planned, excellent timing. If you're anything like me, you'd sit and brew and we all know that does us no good at all. Sorry about the job, but as long as your finances hold out, maybe it's a nice break to do something for yourself. Putter in the garden, enjoy a hot bath every day, go for a long walk in nature. A blessing in disguise maybe? I hope so.
