Sorry to hear about this Wendy. Glad to hear that you're able to get things straightened out so quickly. Keep breathing, hon.

Lisa

Hope the blood work comes back OK. I'm glad they caught it before giving you the contrast though. Bad things could happen if there are certain abnormalities and you get the contrast, as I'm sure you are aware. I know that doesn't ease the frustrations though. I imagine you just want the MRI done and over with.

I am due a procedure in a few days also. Just get 'er done is the way I look at it. And just get it over with!

Good Luck!

Glad to know I'm not the only one crVpped on in the oxymoron of 'health care'. I named these exposures as 'Hazmats' a long time ago
and try to suit up, realize my whole mind is going to be toxic from it, and I'll have to feel dissonant until the stuff slides off.

ISH.....

I am pretty much a Get 'er done person too...So when it didn't get done(after having this on my mind for 6 months) well, it kind of threw me into a spin...

Yes, I am aware of the reasons that they do the blood test before hand.....They need to know how your kidneys are functioning...With an MRI or CT Scan, IF there is going to be contrast involved, then they need to know how the kidneys are functioning, as the contrast can cause serious health problems for the kidneys. I should have known because I have kidney disease, but hell...I Have PTSD too, and memory problems to boot, plus I am NOT a medical person......It isn't my job to know everything....But I can guarentee, that in 6 months, I will ask for the blood test BEFORE hand.....

Ugh sorry to hear about that. The delay would send me spinning too. Glad to know it will be done ASAP though. Good luck with the results!

Holy hell, do I empathize with you here. "Oh, uh. . . didn't such-and-such give you a call about that?" I empathize because I recently waited months for a sleep study appointment, and on the night before the study, the secretary phoned me to say she'd made a mistake, she shouldn't have booked me for that day. Oops. We can rebook you in February.

If it's something major concerning your health, you need to know. How can they be so blase about it? I would have walked out, too.

I hope they've at least rescheduled you soon (so to speak), but that isn't the point.

What pisses me off the most.....Is that whe they do make a mistake, it's pass the buck, lay it on someone else, no one takes responsibility for anything or even says that they are sorry....

I'm with you on this one Wendy. I am glad to hear things are getting sorted despite the bumpy ride. I hate it when things go pear shaped like they have with you especially when there is so much energy, time and emotion invested in just getting to the event. Take care.

This is an awfully good thread to read if one has problems processing anger. I keep making myself follow it, too. You got thrown for a loop, came back still of course completely disgusted still with this ridiculous system but intact.

I don't like seeing anger and can't allow myself to even feel it much, so it's really helpful to see it's OK, one deals with it, lives through it and goes on. That sounds simplistic, I know, but no matter how well you know something intellectually it doesn't always translate into being able to think that way yourself. Seeing someone go through this and come out 'the other side' is really helpful.

Hope you're feeling better physically, too. Take care,

Anni

Ugh. You had every right to be angry. It's their responsibility to make sure you have all the information you need for any tests, etc.

I actually used to work in a dr.'s office. We had templates made up with full instructions for all appointments and tests that we gave to the patients when their appointment was booked. And then we followed up with a phone call reminder a day or 2 before the appointment.

But then both of us in the office had anxiety disorders ourselves, so we were always thinking of how to make appointments less stressful for the patients.

I calmed down enough to call my Dr's office, and asked to speak with her medical assistant. The one that books the test. Well, it seems as though she DOESN'T work for them anymore......I didn't ask why, and prefer to think that she got fired.

I'm sorry about what happened to you - and boy did it ring a bell from my past, from another area of life, though... It seems there is no shortage of incompetent people, as someone else also noted.

Good luck with future check-ups etc! And I'm glad you came back!
