I've been applying for things for 2 weeks with no result and yesterday I got a promise for a part time gig and request for an interview. So naturally I'm nervous and excited. I haven't had video interview in years and I worry.

But I also tend to get anxious in a way of shaking hands and overthinking sometimes when I'm excited which I am now...I mean it's great, and after some research I really think I can pass the interview(I need to pass 3 of them to get hired), but now that I'm excited I'm going in overdrive. I made a list of things to do before the interview, like checking my skype and how is my video and audio and what to wear and make up and refreshing my English and refreshing my CV and I need a website and ...you get the idea.

But until I am hired and I have actually started to get consistent paycheck from them, I need to continue applying and I need to continue doing the small amount of work I do have. But my mind is spinning and I constantly remember new things to add to my todo list concerning the work- plus today there is a crisis with our plumming at home today, so that makes it even harder to concentrate...anyone knows a way to calm down? Not just in terms of breathing but also in terms of running thoughts? Right now I find it hard to concentrate on anything but the interview:). I mean it's cool! Finally! An interview! But I still need to do other things in the meantime...

Congratulations on getting an interview....good feeling isn't it?...your hard work is getting you somewhere? What you describe took me back to when I was looking for work.....I got so obsessed that it took over everything and worked myself into a frenzy. After interviews I did get, I fell into a heap of exhaustion.

I learned to calm down and pace myself....I'd time my job searches, do what I could do to prepare myself, then walk away from it....so when it came to the day before the interview I would take the day to do relaxing things....anything but think about it...I'd done all I could possibly do to prepare.

Be good to yourself.....you deserve it!

Yup, that is pretty much me. I was a ball of energy when I got the interview email in the morning. I spend 3-4h setting up some technical stuff, preparing for the interview and I scheduled the exact date and time from the open slots in their system...and then I crashed. And for the last few hours I was barely awake and so low on energy I couldn't get out of bed. There are few hours left in the day and I'm trying to rest so I'm refreshed for tomorrow, but I am so exhausted I can't even try any of my relaxing activities(like drawing). I'm barely awake, I can only stay in bed and watch movies, not a good feeling. I think I may do nothing until tomorrow, not good, not bad, just nothing, watch some series and sleep. Too much adrenaline, I guess...

But yeah, it does feel good, and I hope in time I'll be able to pace myself better.

Congrats on the job interview! I hope it goes well. I like the advice above giviing yourseld a break from preparing for it some time before the interview. It sounds like you are doing all the things you need to do before the interview to be prepared. You can do it.
