For $3, I got this very cool document reader on my ipad that allows me to attach notes, highlight, scribble on documents, etc, all saved onto the document. The highlight is really the only thing I care about, as I can sit on the lounge, read through information, highlight important bits, send it back to my computer and then use it as required.

Oh Anthony,

How cool!

May I ask what document reader this is? (I'm connected to the Forum right now via my iPad.)
I'd love to get this reader, is it in the App Store?

This would be wonderful to have!
Interesting looking document, btw :)

Excitedly,
Deer

Ah hmmm.... interesting topic considering Anthony was a Windows man until I brought home a Mac (which now seems to live on his side of the desk ) and never wanted an iPad until I brought him one for Christmas.....which seems to even end up in the bedroom .

Each time I pick up the iPad it happens to have new apps on it but if you ask Anthony "he's never purchased any". It is really great that he is putting his brain to good use and studying/learning though. It makes an amazing difference to him being bored.

It is "Goodreader For iPad" and it comes up as one of the top paid apps. Does most document types as well...

Took me a bit to work it out with the getting documents into and out of it, tricks, etc... for example:

I just learnt that if you opened a PDF in safari, and wanted to save it into Goodreader, then you go to the URL and you put a g in-front of the http, ie. ghttp:// and it saves it into the Goodreader document folder.

I got a Dropbox, figured it was easier, and I use that to move my files between the computer and ipad quickly, vice versa. Free for 2Gb of data.

Thank you, Anthony!

I'm going to go get it, and play! Thank you for sharing tips!

I didn't even know about a dropbox... sounds really useful! Is this also in Apps?

Have you seen "Penultimate" yet? I just got it a couple of days ago, and love writing onscreen with that. It's a top paid app.

Thank you, Anthony! :)

... Playing in the Apps Store, I found Dropbox :D

No, haven't seen, will look...

Dropbox is like a free file sharing thing, so you can choose whether something is public or private, but basically it will automatically update any computer, iphone, ipad, etc, with files you put in it if you need to share things across devices, however; whilst iPad has a dropbox app, you don't need it for Goodreader, as it connects directly to your dropbox, downloads and uploads via the Goodreader program and documents folder.

Goodreader allows you to manage your own file structure, folders, within itself... and I can't find a way to otherwise get files into it that are on the ipad itself... Goodreader will import from all sorts of devices, Wi-Fi, dropbox, gmail, etc.
