I plan on taking propranolol for my anxiety, good idea?

And what’s with the aggression?
Zip zero nada aggression here. Seriously.

There are beta-receptors in both the heart & brain (which is why close TRUSTED medical supervision is so necessary, because it’s your heart & brain). Beta blockers are VERY LETHAL …or… VERY LIFESAVING, giving people decades longer than they’d have without them.

Did you know that taking arsenic will give you LUSCIOUS skin & hair? It was a beauty aid, because of how pretty & youthful it makes the people who take it… looking 20 in your 40s… as long as you don’t take too much (and die) or lose any weight (because it’s stored in your fat, so losing weight gives you a lethal dose of the deadly poison). Because even grossly obese people lose fat under their skin as they age, a helluva lotta the “life expectancy” for those thousands of years (amongst the elite who could afford to buy luxury beauty aids)? Was due to arsenic poisoning. Horse sharpers STILL use arsenic to make old beat down horses LOOK youthful, as long as you don’t check their teeth. Most people, modern,y, use arsenic as rat poison.

Did you know that there are ANTIBIOTICS you have to be put into a medically induced coma, in order to “take”? (Read, be administered). Because they are soooooo ravagingly PAINFUL, anyone not unconscious DIES, by way heart attack and stroke -or- “simple” shock; meanwhile we can saw someone’s limbs off whilst they’re awake, set someone on fire & expect their recovery… but a few antibiotics are THAT painful. That the body dies, rather than endures it. Full stop. Antibiotics. A select few, of course, but still. Induce coma & then admin. Or they die, anyway, of the infection we can’t treat without a medication whose only harm… is pain. No actual damage. No actual change to how organs work (like your heart, and brain).

Chemical compounds and the effect on human physiology? Is. Fawking. Complicated.

Find professionals you actually trust.

I have chest pain/tightness (all day everyday) that's anxiety related for many years, I read online people's positive experiences, I'd like to try what having no chest pain feels like.
I went to a cardiologist today (to ask him about this drug), he ordered a bunch of tests, I told him about propranolol, he said it's not for my case, it's for people who have heart palpitations becasue of anxiety.. I asked is it okay to try it? He said no, we have to investigate the cause. I didn't tell him I have anxiety.
I've already done all the heart tests he's asked for in the past and they're all normal, so I don't intend on doing them again. I know my chest pain is psychosomatic.
Is it okay to take this drug by myself? The lowest dose is 10 mg. PRN. I'll see how I feel. It's available in the pharmacy otc without a prescription, so I don't need the doctor's approval.

Side note:
He also asked me if it's been going on for years, why am I coming now? The reason is I feel encouraged to solve my other health issues, because I've had a positive experience treating my gyn chronic issue, so I had hope that maybe there's treatment for my heart issue. The gyn doctor didn't ask me why I've waited so long to come and see her! I was actually afraid she'd judge me for neglecting my reproductive health, but she didn't mention it, which was nice.
Hi, I take .02 mg of clonodine with much better results. 3 times a day. Propanol didn't work as well. Not sure if that helps you. Good luck.

Maybe, I have been given so many things and had so many bad reactions I just can’t remember. I have been given beta blockers twice and both times I had sever reactions. Never again for beta blockers.

Hi
Unfortunately there are people who are looking for drugs for recreational issues so this may be the doctors hesitancy. Personally I have found that being honest with my doctors about symptoms and diagnosis is important to get what is needed. Perhaps your therapist can help you overcome the fear of sharing about your anxiety issues or maybe they can write a letter to your doctor at a very high level of the symptoms you struggle with. Wish you the best. Oh and I personally would never self diagnose or medicate. I don't know what medications mixed with others would cause. If you don't feel safe with this Cardiologist to be open to them then you may want to consider finding someone you do feel safe with.

Hi Sunnydays,
Everyone here is looking out for you. We care and we know we are not professionals. I had propranolol once for a total knee replacement. It was controlled by an anesthesiologist with many years of schooling and professional experience. The drug is nothing to play with. I hear your desperation to feel better and speaking openly and honestly is key when talking to your doctors. You can't hide anything if you want them to be able to find something that can help that is not more dangerous then helpful. Get second, third, fourth opinions if needed.
