I Think This Was A Panic Attack

I can get like that sometimes, once you're more recovered it will be easier to examine it from a more logical standpoint and perhaps identify a trigger, of course, sometimes finding exactly what caused it can be a stressor in itself.

Don't sweat it, it happens, it's not fun but you'll learn to accept it and ensure your own safety - speaking of which, you did really well there. Big pat on the back!

I find for me things as simple as a stressful noisy environment can trigger the dissociation and it sounds like you did exactly as I would have done, you asked for "help", you removed yourself from the environment, you actively tried to calm and you endured it, despite how uncomfortable you felt inside and then you ensured your safe-time until it resolved. That's coping despite the symptom. Yay! Congratulations & hugs!
