I Wonder Why

I wonder why most levels of dissociation are such a taboo subject.
I know what I experience. I know embracing my experience is the only way to love and accept myself.
People believe in ghosts, fortune tellers, aliens and God or gods Yet they can't grasp how one person, through enough trauma starting at an early age has parts who at some point unconsciously said, "I've taken enough" and proceeded to withdraw with not only the deal breaker but all the things that happened during their tour of duty. Earlier parts might see and remember but it does belong to them. There's enough on their own plate.
It makes perfect sense to me.

In my limited experiance people are scared of all things mental health related because of the word "mental". what they dont understand they fear and what they fear they lash out at anyway they can, much like the fight/flight responce we all have to deal with regards our PTSD.

Like you have said i dont see a problem with it but i know too much is bad for you that i can account for. Its a long really hard road and i hope you keep in there :)

People fear what they dont understand and thus its hush hush.

I dont have DID but I do have parts. They just dont take control. Recently I realize finally that the conversations I have always had with myself are between these parts. Like people say "talking to yourself is normal as long as you dont answer yourself". And i have heard that your arent "crazy" unless you answer yourself. I have entire conversations with these "parts"....for hours at times. I dont know if DID folks do this but I can at least imagine how it may feel to have parts as someone with DID does. But I think I understand a lot of it because it either resonates with me or i can at least imagine it.

I think too that much of mental health issues are hush hush. I was just having a conversation in comments on a youtube video talking about how when the media talks about someone with PTSD, they highlight its a veteran and really emphasizes that. It seems that the only time PTSD is even mentioned its a veteran. Its sad really! But i think most mental health issues are hush hush. So like unless you went to war for your country you cant talk about PTSD. I think its the same, people fear it because they dont understand it.

I find it really sad but I think education helps a lot.

Mental health is so misunderstood and it makes me sad and angry. I think it's a good thing that PTSD is getting attention through our veterans. War is not natural. It's ego driven.
I don't believe I have DID I do have many parts. I do understand all theses parts are me. They ebb and flow with their influence. This affects my energy, focus, spending, negative/positive attitude, problem solving, organizational skills, social skills and food choices, just to name a few. I hold myself accountable and work at giving myself credit. Having PTSD is not fixed with a pill. It's self awareness and acceptance. The most difficult part is accepting myself when no one else accepts me.
