I've been having a few people these past few months try to put me into categories (this isn't on this site, it's happened offline).
If I think this way, I'm this. If I think that way, I'm that. And if I don't think the way they think, I'm one of them.
This us or them talk is really discouraging. Civil conversation can't happen. If I don't agree and think the way they tell me to think, I'm a horrible human being. I've been mislead or I'm not smart enough to make up my own mind...
I try to keep faith in humans, but the more controversy happens, them more I find voicing my own opinion would be considered a bad move. My little island has recently gotten smaller.
Thankfully I don't listen to the diplomatic side. I call out bullsh*t when I see it. If a person acting like an arse, I take a stand, which is really difficult to do sometimes as blood pressure rises and I get all anxious but it's worth it. I'm not going to be a lamb. I'm going to be me.
