I'm Amazed

Hey All

Sometimes it's nice when something comes along that I find truly amazing. It reminds me that life goes on regardless of what's happening to me at the moment. I grew up during the Space Program and saw all the development that went on in those areas. Recently I saw that NASA had launched and landed another rover on Mars. When I saw the first few pictures I was amazed when I looked at them, that I was actually looking a the surface of another planet. That's where the future of humanity will be. I know with all that's happening here some will say what's the point. I guess for me it's just like enjoying a beautiful day and glad that I'm around to do it. Hope you enjoy the pics.

I swore blind as a nipper I was going to be a Renegade Blockade Runner in some little shuttle LMAO Kind of a cross between Mal Reynolds from Serenity (firefly) and the Maquis from Startrek.

At the time I brought loads of books on Space, Travel and Shuttles. Still have them today. 1 is called "Spacecraft; 2000 to 2100 AD

Looking back know, I guess it was the Loneliness and the "F*ck the Oppressor" that wanted satisfying.

But seeing as I never got Lukes landspeeder and Solo`s falken never stopped by, I joined the army.

I think from the 60`s to the 80`s kids realy were in aww of what was going to be "Our World" Everything you looked at had something about Space. NASA was allways in the news, the majority of TV shows were all about space shit even the music was going the road. ANd kids being kids, we believe the f*cking lot :ROFLMAO:

Been fascinated by the curiosity project for a while now, the pictures are amazing. The most complex landing system ever designed and made.
Same as you sarge, looking at the pictures and thinking, that's a totally different planet, amazes me

Yeah it`s Mars, but hell we were in the Moon 43 years ago. Imho, we should have set foot on Mars a while back and not just got Curiosity there. Kind of get the feeling we haven`t realy moved on.

I would of liked to have had the option to f*ck off from this planet, as we were promissed for so long.

Come to think of it, do you reckon we could sue?

Yeah, I'm with you Angle. I thought we'd have space stations like in 2001 and cities on the moon and mars. Guess we're a bit behind the curve. I think it's two things; the cost which is astronomical, excuse the pun, and a way for business to make money in space. Once the second one happens things will jump forward. Like most things, it's about money.

Maybe I'll see humans land on Mars in my lifetime. That would be incredible.

The business venture is being thought about!
It is disappointing we're not further along than we are, inanely jealous of those that have been "up there" must be an amazing experience. They are designing and testing capsulses for mars but there is still so much holding us (human race) back. What with NASA being slashed, and the world economy as it is think its gonna take a lot longer as well.

Yeah, me too. Your words are all too true. When people don't have money to eat they don't want to see it going to NASA. It will happen, I think it's the destiny of the human race to continue to move outward to new places.

man space was all it was about back in the day.. star trek, then Star Wars came around wow... grew up during most of the apollo landings... remember seeing Armstrong take his first step on the moon...

of course everyone back then wanted to be an astronaut... the rest wanted to be firemen and policemen... I wanted to work on a garbage truck.... I thought that big white beast rolling by... those tan muscular dudes flipping the contents of those cans into the back and putting it back down without skipping a beat... meanwhile the truck never stops rolling.. omg.. those were true heros...I could see me being one of those garbage gods one day....

who knew I would end up where I did? lol.... medicine... what a failure compared to my dream! then omg.. computers then a Linux dude! wow... where did I go wrong? lol.. no serious I know this is sooooo off topic but I was in awe of those guys.. and ya... I am happy just having the best friends in real life and online a broken down guy could have!

Ooooo I need to find the links to that new orbiter that is surveying the moon. lots of pics of all the Apollo landing sites and the stuff left behind including the flags etc.... hold pls....
