New Here
Hi all,
I've been watching this website for a short while and think being a part of this community might help me. I have PTSD/depression/anxiety and I'm trying to work on it. I don't have health insurance and since it's not combat PTSD I don't have any aid from the government either. I'm unemployed and probably at this point unemployable, and I'm not sure I can work at anything anyway. The PTSD seems to have taken most of my intellect and short term memory. So I'm currently considering disability for which I evidently qualify but honestly this makes me feel like I've hit the very bottom. Sigh. Anyhow, I hope I can fit in here somehow and maybe help others too.

Welcome to the site, you've come to the right place to get help and support for your PTSD problem, I look forward to reading more of your posts, good luck.

Hello there! You seem to have a lot in common with my mother because she is on disability due to depression. She has a history of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, but has not been diagnosed with PTSD. It is very hard for her, but I'm glad you're here :)

I am new here to. In the UK it is very rare but you can get psychotherapy on the NHS. Would there maybe a charity that could perhaps help you connected to a hospital? I really fought for my treatment I had two NHS Counsellors turn me down one because of suicidal ideation and the other because I wasn't depressed enough - I mask. So I found out where the leading NHS facility, was realised I ticked boxes for symptoms and made the Counsellor refer me. The assessment psychotherapist realised I was suffering from very, very severe and complex trauma, in her words:

"You have been through a War"

and got me taken on. Try and keep calm and don't give up.

Thank you. I mask as well, and most people who meet me for the first time have no idea there's anything wrong. But after a while it starts to become obvious, if they spend more time with me. I also have suicidal ideation, and sometimes I have to call the suicide hotline, but the last time I called (two nights ago, after I had a rage attack) I was treated horribly by the individual who answered the call. I agree with what your counselor said, about having been through a war. I honestly don't think there's much of a difference between combat PTSD and complex PTSD.

I have just seen your post. I feel worse after the hotlines don't bother any more. I used to put them in my Emergency Action Plan but have taken them out. I believe it is very hard for if not impossible for most people to even comprehend what others are going through. I find one of the good things about masking is if I act positive and cheerful, I feel better, but it is later that the loneliness hits me.
