I bought some salt tablets and some pottassium tablets and am aproximating the balance of Gatorade minerals with these. The salt tabs even says it is an electrolyte, which is what the Dr. is recommending the Gatorade for. So I take these tablets and only drink a little bit of Gatorade each day. So far so good. I had to order these from anazon.com, so it took some time for them to get here. I just started taking them a couple of days ago and it has taken me this long just to get them adjusted correctly so that I don't feel dizzy. The Dr. said that dizziness and feeling tired are signs of the low blood sodium, also low blood pressure. So I check that each day now with my blood pressure meter and hope for the best. So far, things are working out quite well, though I did have a problem the first morning I tried the tablets. I almost did pass out that morning again, so I am being really careful, because if I mess this up and no one finds me passed out on the floor, I could die! (Not trying to be dramatic here, but letting you all know the severity of this situation)! However, I do have a neighbor who checks on me and has the key to my apartment too. She says she listens for noise from my apartment every day, like me sitting in my recliner chair which makes a noise she can hear from her bedroom next door to mine. Also, she listens for my music by my door. If for any reason she does not hear these, she will use her key and come in and check on me. So I am in her hands and God's hands, so I should be OK. I am trying to be really careful. Oh, and I am drinking buttermilk and V-8 juice too, both of which have salt in them. I also add salt to them as well. Dr. said these were OK, thank God. None the less, I have a bunch of bottles of Gatorade I still have to finish off, but once I do, I hope I won't need to buy any more Gatorade, since we are lowering the medicine that is causing this problem.
As to the pain, folks have said that exercise is the best remedy for that, so I am trying to do more walking. Hopefully I will be back into my usual life soon!
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! I love all of you and miss you so much.
