You would receive a PC citing a notification about a specific aspect of rules not followed in a post. This is a stupid question, really. But- how do we know when we have been warned or notified?
The edited message on the bottom is when staff edit posts, without notifications, as minor edits do not obtain any action towards the member. It is only extreme / blatant issues that obtain notifications on a post by post basis.
Notifications achieve one of two things:
- The member learns a rule they were not familiar with / remembered, and they change their posting method to comply with forum rules, or
- They endup leaving the forum because they don't like conforming to rules.
Its like me going to a members house. I am in their house, not my own... so their rules apply, not the rules I use in my house. If I started smoking in a non-smokers house, then they would promptly tell me to put it out, or smoke outside, or tell me to leave for being so disrespectful in their home. (I don't smoke... just an example)
We don't allow shoes in our house... so visitors remove their shoes. When we go to another's house, some want the same, no shoes... some don't care, but have other rules. We learn and abide by rules on a case by case basis, otherwise the home owners tell us to get out for disrespecting their rules. Our choice is to comply with their rules, or we leave their house.
How they communicate that to us is up to them... though this system here is done in a well mannered tone... it just took some refinement from to achieve, though it is achieved now.
