A "Ken" doll. Remember the Ken & Barbie dolls of 30 years ago? Well, I'm in search of a Ken doll.
I'm working on a boat model, and the characteristics of the old Ken doll is what I need.

The ones they have today are way different and won't work.

Anyone have a Ken doll they can get rid of?

Action Man?
My preference is because of size.

Hmm...30 years ago I was a little girl who was playing with Barbies (& Ken and Skipper, etc). Now my daughter plays with them. I honestly couldn't tell you what the differences are between Ken of today and Ken of my childhood other than Ken dolls are a lot more difficult to find in the stores now than they were 30 years ago.

Good luck...hope you find what you need. (have you tried ebay?)

My sister had a Ken and Barbie, I had an Action Man, I thought they were the same size or is that childhood perspective I'm suffering from?

I never had any of the three, but my sister had Ken & Barbie.
I have no idea. But if Action Man is same size, do you have a pic, Jestadud?

Something like that.

I'm not looking for a collector's piece. I want it to help create a proper scale for the boat I'm making.for scale.
Let me explain-

You see, since I was a kid I wanted my own ship. Well, I have worked my arse off for as long as I can remember, and now that I'm "maxed out" on the disabilities I can tolerate (herniated disks through out my neck and my back, three traumatic brain injuries and both knees screwed up), now that I have been declared by the state as "permanently/totally disabled", I'm gonna build the boat I wanted.

I was in boy scouts and my scoutmaster had a Coleman Scanoe. Not a "canoe", but a "scanoe". Google it and look at the hull design. I loved the boat, it has a great hull design, and now I want to make my own ship out of the boat I now have. I( got one of the scanoes from Craig's List back when I had the money.

So when I talk about it, people think I've been smoking the wrong batch of weed when I tell them I'm gonna turn a 16' boat into a 136' to 320' ship....

But if you've ever done "scratch builds" before, you know what I'm talking about.

And that is why I want to get a figurine. I *think* it's a 12" doll. I dunno. I have considered doing a now-regular sized GI Joe, but that's 3-1/4" IIRC. 12", roughly equaling 6' brings the boat/ship scale to 96'. I might adjust it to 5'3", which is my height, making it 84'. Using the modern GI Joe, it changes it to 354'.

Did I lose ya yet?

ETA: I Googled it for ya- pics are at Dead Link Removed
and a review is at http://www.paddling.net/Reviews/showReviews.html?prod=377

Right I think I've got this all worked out. My sister had a Tressy (with hair that grows) I think it was a British version of Sindy and they were the same size as things were interchangable between them. Sindy and Barbie were American rivals. There were at least two boyfriends Ken and Paul.

Anyway the place to look is ebay they have them on there at the moment priced from £1.

There's a ton of them in the thrift stores around here - I can look for one for you the next time I go out?
I'd appreciate that. Though I cannot promise you a nice profit from it.
My truck broke down yesterday. Right now it's sitting 40 miles away on the side of the road and I can't get to it....
