I need to address some things in this thread. I'm going to do that, and then
the thread will return to its purpose - rants, not debate.
I am hearing you...but if it’s saving lives, detail is extremely important.
@Warrior Chicken - if I was reading you right, your point was that
@mumstheword mis-referenced hydroxychloroquine as "hydrochloraquine"
Yes?
Ok - so, that was clearly a typo, nothing more. There's no such thing as hydrochloraquine -
it's just a (relatively common) mis-spelling of hydrOXYchloraquine.
This thread is not here to start debates. Let people rant, if they wanna rant. Don't correct their spelling.
...I've been in the firing line before when my info didn't fit with other's worldviews and then my sources just get written off and deleted.
@mumstheword - I don't know how many ways I can tell you, on this site, that's utter bullshit.
When you post links to propaganda masquerading as information - yes,
those are removed. Propaganda = a small kernel of truth that is then exploited to convert people to a belief system. On this site, we remove that, whether it's based in politics, news, religion, science...
everything. It's not some kind of targeted attack against you. Could you please stop believing that it is?
Re: using hydroxychloraquine for COVID-19...
Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are oral prescription drugs that have been used for treatment of malaria and certain inflammatory conditions. Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine are under investigation in clinical trials for pre-exposure or post-exposure prophylaxis of SARS-CoV-2 infection, and treatment of patients with mild, moderate, and severe COVID-19. More information on clinical trials can be found at ClinicalTrials.govexternal icon. FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to authorize use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquineexternal icon from the Strategic National Stockpile for treatment of hospitalized adults and adolescents (weight ≥50 kg) with COVID-19 for whom a clinical trial is not available or participation is not feasible.

Translation - in the US, hydroxychloraquine has been authorized for treatment in critical cases. It's been authorized
and in use since March 28, 2020. It's a risky drug, and people certainly should not attempt to dose themselves with that drug. But doctors are using it - in Aus., and in the US. And elsewhere, I'm sure. It CAN help. It can also kill you. So, there's that. (And, if anyone wants the starting-point source for the statement made by State Rep. Karen Whillit (D-MI), re: thanking Trump for talking about hydroxychloraquine,
read it in the Detroit Free Press)
Now: This thread is not here to provide a way for members to circumvent the basic rules on the site. We've got a thread to discuss COVID-19. Use that thread for links.
Use this one to blow off steam. Rant.
