My name is Loralei. I am a survivor of spousal abuse.
The abuse was long ago (almost 22 years) but it was extreme. I was tied with duck tape and tortured. Beaten beyond recognition. Stabbed with a steak knife, and thrown from a moving car on the interstate. I was with him for almost three years from 15 to 18 years old and had 2 children with him. Abuse and suffering was just a part of life for me as he tormented me on a daily basis.
I am 41 now and many of these memories haunt me still, and some memories are just now surfacing as I 'evolve' through therapy and medications. I have set backs though, even with the meds and that is what has brought me here to this forum... the need to share my experience and to hear of others experiences, not just with the trauma itself, but with the healing and the processes therein.
