Good afternoon,

My name is Jess and I am from Pennsylvania! I have lived in a few different states but originate from Maryland.

I have been looking for a forum like this for quite some time now and am so happy to have found one. My fiancee was diagnosed with PTSD about a year after returning home from his first deployment in Iraq. And, although he has made some amazing strides, I would really like to learn more about PTSD. I think being educated about it is the best way to continue to help him on that long road.

So, a little bit about me...I graduated college a few years ago and work in property and casualty insurance. One day, I'd also like to teach as I am getting my Master's degree in the near future. I love to play lacrosse and also referee high school girls lax. Other than that, I have my Private Pilot's certificate and love to fly!

I can't wait to talk and learn! :hello:

Hi Jess, welcome to the forum. Couldn't agree with you more about educating oneself about PTSD. To deal with it, you must first know and understand what you are dealing with.

Hi Jess and welcome -

Education is crucial - I am so glad you found this site to learn all that you can to help your fiancee and yourself. He's a lucky guy to have your support.

Thank you

It means so much to me just to be able to have a place to talk.

I can see how PTSD affects relationships- it's hard. But I'm not willing to ever give up. I just need to know more...and have a place to talk!

We have a really great relationship, I'm lucky, truly. So, I want to make sure it continues on a positive path. There will be tough times...I need to be able to deal with them more without taking anything out on him.

I hope that makes sense!

Hi Jess,

Welcome aboard. I am also a carer of a combat ptsd sufferer. Even though we are in a very rough patch at the moment there has never been a time where I have regretted our relationship.

I'm still learning, trust me I'm still learning about ptsd. When the chips are down, its a real test of the relationship.

See you around,
Carmela
