Intrusive but poorly defined memories

I wonder how many have had experiences of intrusive memories of images that are poorly defined. The best I can describe it is like white noise with the amplifier on max. When it hits I have to go to a dark room and lie down until it passes. It can really knock me for a day or two afterwards.

I am sorry that is happening to you. Have you spoken to your T about it?

For me, when certain memories were trying to partially surface an somewhat similar experience as you described occurred. It took time to connect the dots and my T helped me see the other areas that were attempting to assist with those foggy images.

Snippets in dreams, body memories that accompanied those blurred images, my avoidance of certain movies or situations were all little clues allowing me to slowly digest what was too hard to process when the situation(s) occurred. *Not that it is necessarily easier now, but I was so young.

I am not sure this is what you meant but I thought I offer that I heard you and you are not alone.

Thanks for your reply. My T and I have discussed it. Sometimes I'd prefer the more memories and flashbacks as at least I know what they are about. Kia Kaha.
