@Freida Oh, thaaaaaaat is a fight response. I have to say I always got this totally wrong when people talked about this.
@shimmerz My vet does have wellness things, you know, things that are beneficial for his wellbeing... like he is doing water therapy and found it very helpful. I did not discuss this here because of cultural differences. In our culture there is something like traditional German medicine... like the Chinese have acupuncture we have our own traditional medicine and the people livinging in the part of the world that later would become Germany believed in healing fountains and the healing powers of water... actually especially in case of any injury having to do with the military... because in their traditional way of thinking our ancestors did believe that water and the military were connected (long and very off topic story). Fast foward to 19th century there was a man named Sebastian Kneipp... and he came up with a halfway scientific concept for watertherapy, like using cold showers of the legs, beating yourself with brushwood from a birch, using different kinds of stong scents and so on. It is used for different kinds of illnesses and while Kneipp tried to make it more scientific it is not fully scientific now... but people say it works. It worked for vet but I am not sure... maybe it works better if you believe in it, I think there is a placebo effect in this. This is not as effective as other things of course but at least it has no side effects. That is the reason why vet chose to do it, because he wanted to do something without side effects. He also does CBT, but that is very stressful for him.
But that‘s off topic. When vet says “People say I am deaf and crazy“ or “the trash is full of germs“ I just cannot tell him “Shut up and do some water therapy!!!!!!! RIGHT NOW!!!“ that would be mean.
