My wife had a horrific work related trauma, caused both physical and emotional injuries, bullied , abused harrassed and subjected to horrendous working conditions, 3 years ago. Originally her doctors thought she was depressed about her injuries, especially the ringing in the head (tinnitus) so nothing was ever done about the the abuse and bullying she got ,despite them all being aware of it. She was sent to 4 pyscologists, one of which got upset at her and told her she wasnt trying to get well, another who said crystal would heal her, one who wroked and had some success with cognitive therapy and the other who believes that while she is being forced to relive the ordeal she will never be able to concentrate on her therapy. Through this doctor PTSD was discovered but now the insurer is saying that because her doctors did not list this in the begining then it is not relevant to her current claim despite the fact they pay for her therapists, they just see it as a secondary injury. What are the guidelines for diagnosing the exact cause of a trauma in relation to workers compensation? If they are aware of what went on is it fair that they blame the doctors for taking so long to uncover the exact cause? Or should the doctors had placed more empasis on finding out whether it was PTSD from bullying and abuse or the actual physical injury that caused her ongoing PTSD? Im at a loss at what else we could of done seeing she has been in treatment for 3 years and has been told she has a variety of emotional injuries including, PTSD, anxiety, depression, reactive anxiety, etc etc, can anyone shed some light on this one for me please.
