I am a Viet Nam Veteran with PTSD I have gone to the VA to get help but all they wanted me to do is to document the particular incident that I think caused my problem. Well my legs shake violently just being there and it has cuased me to have grand mal seizures. I contracted encephaltics back in 2004 and then a while lated I had my first grand mal seizure. The seizures or the brain damage has caused my flashbacks etc. to get worse. However I always hid my problems from everyone and lied to my family and friends about my problems for I dd not want them to think less of me.. I never told anyone what I did in Viet Nam because I was worried that I would be arrested for crimes against the enemy. I joined the service because a lot of my friends were killed in Viet Nam and I wanted pay backs and to avenge the hurt and anger of their deaths. I was always the one who picked on the bullies in High School because it was wrong for what they did and I was in excellent shape and would take on any one who did wrong. Too much to list. my Life is a long story as well as others i am sure. But whom ever crosses my path and does me wrong I never forgive or forget. And I try to do what ever is legal but maybe a little shady to get back at them. Like I have turned people in for Tax evasion, for declaring disability who were not disabled. and have taken some to court when I have had the evidence to back up my claims. And I have won every incident so far. Next is the Federal Government for a number of Issues. End

An Angry Vet who does security watch around the neighborhood, has PAnick attacks at airports, hates large crouds, etc. The list goes on but I do work with a shrink on my own dime. Because the VA believes that everyone is just trying to get a buck by declaring disability by PTSD. Well our own VA has just declared a state of emergency and are affraid that someone will dies because of the lack of care. Well some vets have already commited sucide from recent and long time ago PTSD problems. This comes from the horses mouth from the VA on OCt 18, 2011 and it is a shame that the new vets are not treated right. We Vietnam Vets have expected it all along when we came home we were outcasted from society as baby killers.

End for sure. Jim

Welcome to the forum Jim,

And thank you for your service. I have 2 brothers and exhusband that served. My older brother served well over 30yrs and he is most on my mind these days as he shares a good portions of the symptoms I have but is unwilling to get help, though several years ago he did get some medication for his "anger". I told him at the time I had RAGE to deal with and he could relate.

What you mention about the standing up to what is wrong and not hesitating to do what is right strikes a HUGE cord in me, I am so much like that though the system has over and over let me down, I still find myself doing what I know to be right. I have done some of the things you have in civilian life. I am glad you are here and I hope that you find the answers you are seeking here on the board. There is a lot of information and support.

In each city there is NAMI.org and they can be a good resource for VA support, just am fyi, may be helpful-you do not have to donate to be apart of it.

take care,
peace,
Rain

Welcome to the forum Jim. I do love how shrinks try to find a specific moment in war. Do still do not understand, its the entire thing, not just one moment!
