Jungian Therapy

I just fell in the lap of a Jungian therapist. Anyone had one. Im not used to a T crying and cracking jokes. and being so warm and receptive. Its kinda strange good and scarey all at the same time. I have a lot of fear that my primary T is not going to be open to me seeing this T. As she was her fill in while on vacation.

My T isn't any more inclined to label himself than he is me, so I don't know what category he'd put himself in, if any, but he has no problem showing his feelings. That's taken some getting used to on my part. I guess that might be part of why he doesn't it? To give me a reason to consider that "feelings" can be safe?

I had a Gestalt T that did that. I loved him.. therapy wasn't so daunting and serious all the time. I know I learned more from this man than all the others put together.
It is YOUR recovery @Nighthawk, you can see who ever you want. That is why I had different T's thru the years. But that was a personal choice.

I am sincerely excited for you! Your spirits seem a tad higher, there is a lilt in your tone! (Now do not get me wrong but I think I see a smile too.)

For me, it is a blessing to hear you sharing laughter while working within a session! I love laughing in my therapy, it balances the gritty work as it heals my heart and spirit. May you continue to share positive emotions along with your pain and tears during your sessions.:hug:

My T gets teary and laughs a lot too, and I find it so helpful. i don't like "blank slate" or super serious therapists as much, and I find it harder to do the work with them, no matter the style of therapy.

I can understand your fear about your primary T, but remember you are in he drivers seat and you have choice (barring financial/insurance issues.)

Have you asked this T if they would be willing to keep seeing you even after primary T gets back?

Expressly jungian? Nope. Joke cracking, willing to go toe to toe with me (literally & figuratively), etc.? Yep. In fact, that's a bit of a requirement of mine. I read people. Microexpressions, body language, etc. If someone isn't going to be honest with me? Might give it a few goes to see if I can crack them, but if not? Shrug. They're not going to be useful to me. That's all about personality fit. Has very little to do with how good a therapist they are, may be great for someone else I'm sure, and is all about if we'll be able to work together or not.

Humor I can almost always ascertain first session. The willingness to piss me the f*ck off? To call me on my BS? To back me down when I need to be? <dry laugh> That ones harder. Either way, though, I've got enough of my own shit I'm dealing with. Any kind of dissonance between what they're saying and what they're reading? Takes too much energy. Therapists used to dealing with cops & military, both populations with near zero tolerance for bullshit, are my best bet. A big damn part of that means that you don't hide what you're feeling, or a wall slams down. If something strikes you as funny as hell? You laugh. If something they say makes you mad? You call them on it. Etc. Emotions are too damn hard to not be honest about as they come up.
