Keeping It Small

I know I've found having trauma T who just isn't caught up in PTSD has been invaluable. She recognises and works with my trauma but very much from the place of the impact on me rather than what she "should" see in PTSD. It does help me with perspective and also stops me pathologising normal responses to pretty challenging circumstances.

She's able to hold the "big T" trauma but doesn't pull everything back to being about big trauma, which is helpful for me. I guess that's what I meant about trying to just sit with how I'm feeling and what the impact is on me instead of trying to fit theory around it. I was getting to the place of "oh no, I've got disordered attachment/dissociation/PTSD/insert favourite theory here" and it was really getting in the way for me. You might find just having someone to really listen to you, without labelling it, really valuing.

And everything that @Ragdoll Circus said - very well done keeping your appointment and engaging with her. That's a fabulous achievement.
