Hank and I had a perfect day yesterday. Hank is the rescue dog who 'rescued' me back in January when I totally flunked out of fostering.
Part of the training for Hank is to increase his confidence in situations both when he is out with me and when he is alone.
Yesterday was the first day I was going to do errands with Hank and leave him in my car for a few minutes while I popped in to places to do errands.
I was trying to figure out places to go where I could still see the car but where I could have something legit to do or look at so that I didn't end up looking like a shoplifter or stalker.
As I am driving to the gas station, I see the hair supply store. It strikes me that I could colour my hair since I had a bit of time before having to appear in public. It never would have occurred to me to do this but seeing the store I figured it couldn't be that difficult plus many of my friends colour their own hair...
I find a nice parking spot in this strip mall where I can leave Hank in the car safely and still see him through the store window - and I go inside. Mistake number one!
But I selected a colour I thought would work without my having to do too much research. At the cash the lady asked me if I had a good conditioner and I said I did, and armed with my purchases (bleach, bottles, potions and powders) I left the store happy with how fast I made my decisions.
We did a few more errands and I could see Hank relaxing the more he figured out what was going on and that I was coming back to him each time.
Last night I put on some great music and assembled my hair purchases - I got a colour slightly darker than my usual colour hair and went about reading the directions and slopping the stuff on my hair. After everything was done I had a colour I really couldn't identify but it was...pleasant... but a little suspicious looking.
This morning when I awoke to get Hank for his morning routine I glanced in the bathroom mirror. My hair had turned a very unappealing dark green colour.
I am sitting now with ketchup on my head because I have three meetings today and can't leave with green hair. I am thinking the ketchup will counteract the green...but then again, this type of thinking of mine is what got me in this position in the first place.
Have a fun Monday!
