Let's Be Workout Freaks Together

Yes I went to the gym and did a lot of upper body exercises and managed the thigh exercises that didn't put too much strain on my legs. Maybe I'm nuts, don't know. What I do know is that if I use the knee as an excuse not to go, could be the beginning of the end.

Or could be the old voices in my head telling me you can do better than that. Keep going, soldier on. Whatever I went anyway and will rest up over the weekend have nearly three days till Monday afternoon. Hope there is a great improvement. ;):whistling:

(((FreakofNature))

Nice to see you back again, it's very hard as we loose strength after a while away. Don't over do it, just do your best and listen to your body. That's the wonderful thing about it, we get messages when it's not quite right. Sometimes we just don't listen though. Like me and my bloody knee.

Refuse to accept my age and pay the price. Stick with it.

Hey, guess what, you guys! I did workout today! Woohooo :D 1.5hours like I planned.

@Loloma: I did take it slow, but it went really well. I ate well those past days (my stomach stopped aching when I told it that it didn't achieve anything useful by doing so; I know, it's crazy O.o) and only had some slight muscle tremors here and there. I'm so eager to regain the streching progress I made just before I had to pause.

Take good care of your knee. My experience is that injuries heal best when you keep the limb/joint/tendon as active as you can; keep the pain on a safe level.

My shoulder joints cracked like wtf.

Shoulder joints have been a big one with me. There are a couple stretches, pulling the arm across the chest. And pulling the arm basically over the head. When my shoulders would swell up while working, the pressure on the rotator cuff (tendon) would hurt. Those stretches helped quickly and well. Good luck!

Thanks for that advice, James B., I'll try it.

More workout today, but not as long. At first I didn't manage to get warm. Then I spent nearly 20 minutes on the bike thingy my husband has, but as soon as I got to stretching, a heartachy friend called. Stretching while pressing a telephone to your ear with your shoulder isn't terribly effective :)))

Oh well, new day, new workout.

Missed three days at the gym last week. First two after the visit from my first ex. Thursday I went to stay with a friend. However I did go on Wednesday, Friday and this morning (Sunday). My knee is a lot better and I have learnt not to push too hard or bear the consequences.

I forget at times what my age is and go like a bat out of hell. Moderation is the key, I don't have any records that need to be broken. Hopefully I will get rid of my all or nothing mentality as I go through therapy. FON you seem to be doing well. Good on you ;)

James how are you doing! Do I still have to exercise for you, or are you able to take on a bit yourself.

My workout plan worked out. Huhu ô.o Next two-day-thingy starting today after dinner. Still trying to get back into the drive. But stretching hurts like hell atm.

Still going to the gym five days a week. Some days I have to force myself, however I'm pleased when I get there. Still have problems with my right knee which is probably old age and arthritis. Better to keep using it it might improve in time. Two more days left and I go on holiday on Thursday. Have had a lot of positive feedback from people I know about how good I look.

Should be grateful for that I guess, doesn't make me feel much better at the moment. I hate Christmas this year. :(

I just found this post and want to join in. Recently I started working out in order to be healthier and relieve stress. Last week I worked out six days in a row, an hour each day. I did a combination of compound exercises and biometrics (ouch). I don't go the gym, instead I use workout dvds. I used to be in really good shape before I crashed from PTSD. One of my goals is to get back into shape. I have around ten pounds to loose and lots of toning and muscle building to do. I took yesterday and today off, but I plan on getting back to it!

Nice to see you here Tosh. Working out does help a lot with PTSD. To start it's a really good distraction and secondly it keeps you on a high for a few hours afterwards. So as we all know it's good for body and mind.

I have a lot more weight to loose than ten pounds and it will probably take me about six months. The toning and muscle building is happening after six or seven weeks, and I'm pleased about that. I go five days a week for about one to one and a half hours.

I work out/train nearly every day, and have since 2007. I have found ways to do it at home too as I have 3 kids (requiring care) and travel too frequently to justifying paying for gym memberships. I was actually surprised at what little equipment (both in expense as well as quantity) I actually needed to do this.

But it is not about weight loss, or health. For me it is a requirement for running- and being able to hit the pavement and just go for miles. To be able to just go. The world looks much different on foot than it does from a car window- and the longer you can go, the more wonderful the view.

I am glad to see that there are so many others working out- now I have somewhere to hold myself accountable when I "just do not feel like doing it."
