Those little fat juicy ripe black raspberries that grow so freely and have become my go-to snack this time of year as I mow, and they also tend to be part of my break-fast as I take my morning strolls.
As I was riding up to them to pick a few today, I was overwhelmed with thoughts of the frequency of times I used to drive up to all of the man-made fast "food" windows to purchase food-like substances (often at least twice a day during the work week as I was way too busy to fix my own stuff - and then every chance I got in between for a big ol' cup of caffeine to keep me going through the next shift, and/or the so-called "treats" that I felt I more than deserved for all that hard work) that made me so unknowingly and chronically ill for so long, never really satiating what was steadily building up to be my own appetite for self-destruction. Now, here I am enjoying the original "fast food"....ripened and ready....right on the vine. Super-size that, would ya'? lol
Continually giving lots of thanks for these much more fulfilling creations that grow so freely and abundantly that actually feeds the life force within me rather than continuing to heavily fuel and create the inner turf wars that were leading to much discomfort, dis-ease, and a very hurried and painful demise.
Put death in, get death out...put life in, get life out....hmmmm...at first I thought that sounded quite ridiculous, especially based on how I and everyone I knew had eaten up until that point and was still alive, but it ain't no joke from what I've learned these last few years. Alive doesn't always mean living. Energetic exchanges matter more than we know, and have ever been taught, especially on the end of our fork.
Gut health, in my world/gut, seems to be much easier to live with/manage/nurture/feed when cared for and tended to as a garden rather than a graveyard. Keeping the growing conditions favorable for more growth from the inside out is where it can get tricky and labor intensive, but so worth the effort. Thanks, birds and other critters, for all the seeds you helped plant to make this particular sweet and tasty hydrating sustenance possible.
