Sufferer Looking for Community After a Lifetime of Masking - Spectrum, PTSD, Addiction, & the 49ers.

New Here
Hi! I recently discovered that I’m on the spectrum, and I’m on the hunt for a supportive community where I can openly discuss my experiences with being on the spectrum, PTSD, and addiction recovery. Sports, especially the 49ers, used to be a great way for me to connect with others, but I’m eager to build a real sense of community based on mutual understanding. If you can relate to any of this, I’d be thrilled to hear from you!

hello unmaski. welcome to the forum.
I’m on the spectrum, and I’m on the hunt for a supportive community
i'm always on the hunt for a supportive community. i think of my supportive community as my garden of life. it needs constant renewal and nurturing to thrive.

i'm far muddier on the spectrum biz. in 1959 i started kindergarten as, "retarded." i was reclassified, "gifted math and science" in 5th grade, but still couldn't speak reliably. i have since mastered speech and developed an obsession with language, but my speech defect still rears its ugly head from time to time. somewhere in the closing decades of the 20th century people started pestering me about getting tested for the spectrum. by then i had worn so many psych labels that i was not remotely interested in testing for another.

still. . . i have greatly admired the shows, both literally and figuratively. the tolerance and compassion which seem to be growing from it is nothing short of awesome.
