My husband was in the Armed Forces for 20 years. He and I met right after his 4th and final tour to Afghanistan in 2006. He was diagnosed with PTSD after coming homeand was recently released on a medical pension/forced retirement. We had alot of issues when we were dating because I didn't understand his illness and took his isolation as a personal thing when it wasn't. We had some bad times and spent a fair amount of time in the "friends zone" because that was all he had to offer for a long time. Finally, just over a year ago, he slowly started to realize who I was to him and a year later, we're married. Now, I too have been diagnosed with PTSD related to crap from my teen years and we're both trying to get healthy together. So I'm both a Sufferer and a Carer :)
