Hello everyone. I am delighted to have found this forum. I have been in therapy for over 20 years due to childhood sexual abuse. I have done a lot of work, but I still deal with a lot of symptoms from depression and PTSD. I just started with a new therapist and he asked me to do some research on repressed memories. That is how I found you. I am 48 years old. I am starting to have blips of memories involving my brother. I always thought my father was my sole abuser. I have had night mares all of my life. I have panic attacks. I am obsessed with locks on doors. Sometimes my fear is overwhelming and I can't figure out what exactly triggered it. I hope to be able to give and receive support with this group.

I posted my introduction before I listened to the video. Is there any way to go back and change my title so I can put something in it about childhood sexual abuse?
 
Thank you Brontie. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how this works. I think it's a big step for me to just be here at all.
 
Welcome Serene I am also new maybe we can all figure this out together. Maybe I should listen to the video? ;)

I hope you will find what you need. Keep moving forward, as hard as it may seem sometimes, but you will find a lot of support and information as well. The articles section that Anthony has is great reading to help you understand Ptsd and triggers. Good luck to you all!!!
 
I found the videos helpful Joyce. I've already started one conversation and gotten a helpful reply. Good luck to us both.
 
Thank you AmyO. It will take me a while to read all of those articles. I have to take this slowly, but I am trying to keep moving forward. It helps to have support for all of you.

There is a special support section in the introduction or simply ask one of the moderators what to do. This has happened to other members and everything worked out. BTW, welcome to the forum Serene, this will greatly help in the in between sessions with your T. You went through something very harsh and you will find other members who have also had to deal with similar experiences. You are not alone. Take time to read a few articles posted, there is always some new information which does a lot of good. Just by the fact that you are willing to do something for yourself puts you on an empowerment path.
