Undiagnosed Lsd - 1 Bad Trip Changed Everything

Also, if a brain "cannot differentiate between reality & imagination," then it makes sense that a traumatic drug-related experience can affect the brain the same as real events.

Clearly not. As the person is responding to a bad dream, the way others are responding to real life.

If the brain is treating fiction, whether it's a dream, trip, tv show, like real life? There are other serious issues at play. Hence the different diagnosis. Hence CritH. PTSD ruled out, now time to look and see what the right diagnosis would be.

You're posting with an agenda @TheShawn and you need to please cease it immediately. If you want to debate PTSD for drug induced episodes, do so on one thread, and not repeat yourself arguing a subject across several older threads. That is an agenda, and is not appropriate.

Hello OP

I am officially diagnosed by the NHS and have been in treatment for PTSD from a drug induced state. I was offered some....in a country where it was legal....tried a minimal amount and absolutely freaked. The whole episode was so traumatic....you're talking instant thoughts of suicide and emergency services. Horrific.
I was officially diagnosed by two regions (long story!) - but assessments flagged PTSD. They didn't need to tell me that really. I knew I had it.
PTSD can come from drug induced psychosis or 'a bad trip'. I know because I have it and am still recovering from it - happened over 4 years ago.
I don't take medication. So it's been hard. My psychotherapist has treated a small number of individuals also for drug induced PTSD.
My partner is also a psychologist for the NHS in London - he works with people like me frequently - people who have suffered a drug induced psychosis and left with PTSD. He can't give me the specific details of course, but reassuring in a strange way. He's very senior, at a high band within the NHS. So he knows what he's talking about. He treats several patients for PTSD that occured as a result of a bad trip.
For anyone looking in - PTSD can occur in ANY situation whereby an individual feels utter horror and helplessness. Including drug trips. Remember - our subconscious will interpret what ever is going on in the drug induced psychosis/trip as reality. It can't tell the difference.
It annoys me when people are so uneducated about PTSD!
I hope you're getting better x
