Made The First Step, Called Some Therapists And Set Up A Dr. Appt

New Here
I made the first step by calling and making an appt at the free mental heath clinic [medication only] but I'm looking for a diagnosis rather than medication itself.

I also called therapists near me that specialize in trauma, at least it says so on the Psychology today website.

I'm apprehensive, and a bit scared. I've lived with these problems for so long, I just can't imagine them even marginally better.

Good job, Onigokko.

Way to take that first step. I do hope you get on with a good one. They can give you so many ways to cope with life and help you to find your sense of self again.

Welcome to the PTSD Forum.

safenow.

I hope so too, although it may not be PTSD [although I do feel very very strongly it is] as I've been diagnosed with Panic Disorder, Anxeity Disorder, and Major Depression which I believe to be a symptom. Although like I said, its not been diagnosed so I'm not putting my eggs in a basket yet.

I've been through therapy and have yet to meet that 'one'. However my boyfriend had a great one years ago, that helped him alot and it gives me hope for myself.

Thanks for the welcome!

Congratulations, Onigokko :woot:

This is a great first step you are taking. I hope things go well for you and that you stay encouraged. You are very brave! Changing yourself is hard, but oh so worth it when it leads to a happier, healthier you :)

Congrats Onigokko!

It may be hard to imagine that things could change from where you're at right now - but we tend to surprise ourselves. Finding a good therapist not only changed my life, but saved it. Keep moving forward, baby steps will eventually turn into great leaps :-)

Congratulations! I remember how hard that first step was for me to take. Be proud of yourself for taking the first big step and good luck. It will change your life for the better.

I bet that was really hard for you~soooo proud of YOU!!!!! :) I know my Husband has to conquer his PTSD with meds AND behavior modification.....yes, it will take a lot of work with your doc/therapist~but you are on the road to a healthier You!!!!! :) I'll be honest~I used not to be able to handle my husband's PTSD so I became a percocet junkie.....for 2 YEARS!!! wow. When I finally got clean-I NEVER thought life could be so lovely. I am resistant to change and scared of it-thats why I am so glad I did what I did. Change and a "better You" is scary~but I'm so glad you took this first step!!!!! love, sheebs
