I stumbled upon this
www.mordorintelligence.com
It is a market analysis of the growth in Tourette’s syndrome treatment. It says that this disorder is projected to grow in diagnosis and treatment by 10% over the next five years.
I was learning about how during the pandemic the number of people displaying Tourette’s on tik tok skyrocketed. Most of them are teen girls. The phenomenon has been labeled a social pandemic. Then I found the market report which links the rising cases to being long term symptoms of COVID and stress/anxiety, nothing about social pandemic.
But I was just a bit surprised that investors follow mental health trends in order to plan which pharmaceutical companies to invest in. I would expect these sorts of market reports also exist for PTSD, gender-affirming care, weight loss, and other modern health issues. I just never saw it so black and white that a disorder would make a good investment.
Also odd that the site is called Mordor, given the connotation.

I can’t think of one thing or part of my life that is not commodified. Whoa. Okay. Time out, if that’s possible. Breathe.
