Hi Marianne,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum. As Nighthawlk said, there is a lot of information here, and I would suggest you click on the Supporters section as this is where family members can find the information they need. There is also a Wiki section that has a lot of information.

But most of all, this site provides a lot of support for both the sufferer and those that support them. Don't forget to take care of yourself while you are taking care of others.

Hi Marianne, welcome to the forum.

As the others have said, there is a lot of information. But there is also a lot of support and friendship. The members here 'get it', I read things and think, you know I could have written that.

You are no longer alone, it will not be an easy road but you are now with friends who understand.

Take care of yourself

Hi Marianne -

Just start "talking" it out. People here are very supportive and can give you great non-biased and less emotional suggestions and responses. It helps you get great perspectives on things!

Hi Marianne, welcome to the forum.

Whilst I do have to update and rewrite this linked document, it is still quite accurate for the most part: [DLMURL]https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/threads/understanding-ptsd-by-anthony-parsons.13878/[/DLMURL]

Written for carers to understand. The next best thing you could do, there is a book called "The Posttramatic Stress Disorder Relationship" which I have read and reviewed [DLMURL]https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/pages/book-recommendations/[/DLMURL] for members... and of all the books I have read over the years for spouses / supporters, this is the single most complete resource / bible for supporters of someone with PTSD. It will help you to help yourself, and then help them.
