News Mdma breakthrough treatment for ptsd

It was used many years ago with great results in a study in Scandinavia, forgot where.
Then the anti drug crowd found out...the study shut down......

Interesting. I don't know much about ecstasy. The article refers to this treatment as a being in the category of psychedelic assisted therapy? I never though ecstasy was supposed to be psychedelic.

Not sure how it is classified
I only knew it as MDMA before it became popular as an abused, recreational party drug.

Makes sense that any uplift in our feelings and sense of well being might be a good thing, if not abused. Think that is why it was used in medical trials.

So thank the over zelous anti drug crowd for another win for them, and loss for us.

So it's not a "break thru".
Hard for me to smile right now

Ecstasy and MDMA are two separate substances altogether.
Ecstasy is a street drug and can contain any number of ingredients.
It is NOT ecstasy that helps with PTSD. It is pure grade MDMA.

For safety purposes, it is important to know this. Ecstasy, depending on what it has in it, could make one's PTSD much, much worse.

I don't understand why the press keeps mixing these two, very different substances up. Misinformation when it comes to this respect can be very dangerous.

I agree with all excitement about it as a promising possible treatment tool. I also agree with all the cautions to not think this is use of the street drug or just taking a pill.

The treatment in these studies is done by taking the medication and then doing full days of 6-8 hours of trauma processing therapy. All day. The theory is that MNDA pulls down the walls and defenses that normally make trauma therapy difficult and allows the work to be done. It's not a self guided walk in the park but it is a potentially very promising treatment. Some people who were treatment resistant have walked away with great results.

I've updated the title at least
Thanks Crow. I hope you know that I am not bitching at you about the Ecstasy/MDMA thing. It is actually the press that pisses me off with this. I find it irresponsible and dangerous that they keep referring to MDMA as Ecstasy.... as one can see by the title of the article. I was not meaning at all to drag you into that little rant of mine.

Purity = Innocence
MDMA = Welcome into the fort.

Theres always a rave in my head. DDDDDrop that bbbassss. Welcome to Ibiza.

I wonder about side effects of treatment and whether it lasts or must be continued every now and then?
