Welcome Tim and bailey, I have been checking into a service dog. All my life I've had a dog until the last year or so. I definitly know what your talking about security with you dog. I live in the mountains in Washington and you have to pack a firearm or have a good dog when out in the wilderness walking. I love dogs but little ones are intimadated by my PTSD they sense my anger and hostility. I could get a new dog right now but I need to be in the right mind for it or else I could ruin a good dog. We did all our training together she has been with me since she was 6 weeks old. I went to the breeder 3 times and helped wean her off her mom. she has become my life.

on a side note whereabout in Washington once we are retired my in laws are in Collville and also have a house in Spokane Valley. we will be heading there Father in law wants us all to be together 7 acres in collville is ours. Debating if we should build or live in spokane valley.

I live in Kettle Falls 8 miles from Colville. It is a good place to live raise kids and injoy the outdoors. The big thing is that there is not a lot of work for the average person. The spokane Vally is way to busy for me I would prefer the 7 acres outside Colville any day. If your going to train or raise service dogs Colville is the much better choice. The rules and regulations in Spokane county are so strick on anything like that you would have somebody breathing down your throat all the time. All it would take is one insecure neighbor to call and it would be on. In stevens county people tend to mind their own business. Not that you would do anything wrong with your dogs but spokanites are a differant bread. Lots of peolpe from california and their big ideas has changed that town to the worse.
