I have very low iron and vitamin D. GP told me today and got some vitamins.
She is a new GP for me. She said I should work harder to get my sleep right. I tried do not get angry to her, but, don't you think this would be sorted out many years ago if woyld me on my hands? Anyway, I qlso taking melatonin due chronic insomnia. The quality of my sleep its very poor and never feel «refreshed» in the mornings. She said it is due lack of iron.
Someone else relate?

I absolutely relate! My iron was very low, with associated symptoms. I now take 150-300mg of iron per day, and feel so much better. My sleep is still crap (who am I kidding, what sleep?) but the quality is better, and I have enough energy that I was able to return to work full time. Within 2 weeks I could not remember my nightmares, and I had clearer thinking.

Low iron is basically being chronically oxygen deprived, and is hard on the mind & the body. Once you can get your levels up, you'll notice a difference.

Ohhhh!!!! Thank you very much for your feedback!! I have started today, and ,yes, two weeks to go. I have such a big desire of having more energy!! Wish it works for me, too.
Thanks again :)

Hmm. This just caught me off guard. I just had my iron levels tested and the ferritin was at 7ug/L. It showed that it should be at least 15ug/L, which I think is low. I have been sleeping poorly. I am going to buy some iron pills tomorrow and keep on them for a while. I started vitamin D a few days ago too coincidentally. This is a helpful post. Thanks.

Sadly, I am a bit of an expert in this as I have chronic iron deficiency as a result of an autoimmune issue. I don't know what the conversion rate is to compare to my lab results here in the U.S.

Low iron will make you feel like crap. It will make you feel tired Improved iron levels will help with fatigue that is cause by low iron. It isn't going to help you sleep better. Melatonin in theory should regulate your circadian, especially when combined with b12 when you first wake up. PTSD kind of throws that out the window. It still helps a lot of people sleep though.

Brand is important. at least in the U.S. it is not regulated and many brands that are tested are found to be nothing more than sugar pills or have nearly undetectable amounts. Please research the manufacture before settling on a brand.

If taking vitamin D please make sure it is D3 not D2 and supplement with K2 or fermented foods which is naturally rich in K2. Oral vitamin D is one of those tricky fat soluble vitamins. Like Iron needs Vitamin C, the need for K2 with Vitamin D is often overlooked.

I bought Iron today after my workout. I am going to take two 100mg pills for a while. I got them at the pharmacy so I know the brand is reputable. :) Hoping to get some energies back. I'm not sure but I think it has been making me depressed because feeling so tired all of the time and slow might be bringing me down. Hope this works a bit. :)

@Fadeaway this is a stupid question...but what is fermented food and can we get K2 OTC...

Not a stupid question at all.

Fermented foods are things like pickles, natural cheeses (not kraft products), sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, natto and kombucha. They also happen to be excellent sources of probiotics. Yes, you can get K2 over the counter as well.

B complex is just fine.
