Yep... that's how PTSD rolls.

If he won the lottery he would stop worrying about lack of money and start worrying about having too much money, what to do with the money, the legal repercussions of the money, hiring an accountant... then worrying the accountant is ripping him off. You get the idea.

Me and my other half shared 50/50 when we were earning about the same, when I was being paid better than him I paid for more he paid for less. Now I'm not working and he pays for a bit more than I do.

Not that me and my other half don't worry/fight about money but we have to be able to talk about it other wise shit gets out of control.

£1000 on a collar? ridiculous. Get your dog chipped, mine is you can track with certain chips and it's not gonna lose a chip you might a collar.

Dog is chipped. Its a specialised hunting collar with GPS feeding back to a handheld device the hunter uses to keep track of his dog whilst hunting in heavy vegetation or rolling terrain.
Point is - I don't care what he spends his disposable income on. He always pays his half of the bills. I always pay my half. That leaves him with a significant amount left over. I have basically nothing left over. If he wants to buy a collar, or a car or a rifle or a hot pink sequined Elvis costume with his money - knock yourself out boy. Just don't ask me to contribute when you KNOW I have bugger all to spend.

In a relationship, if your partner cannot negotiate and meet you sensibly and halfway, throw the baby out with the bathwater. It isn't worth it. Just because they have a mental illness, it is no excuse for selfish and cruel behavior. They still know right from wrong. I have alphabet diagnosises, and I am not like that.
