More "rocks"

Went over the to infamous Winslow (as in standing on the corner fame) and was finally able to get some shots of the Moencopi rock formations that surround it. These are just our in the middle of nowhere and show the affects of wind and water erosion of the sand stone. Sorry for all the power poles and telephone lines, I think all of Winslow's utilities run right through all this...








On the last picture, a Sparrow flew out of one of the little "pockets" in the rock and as I looked closer she had a nest in it. I should have taken a picture of the surrounding terrain just to show how flat and featureless the area was, with the exception of these rocks.

And lastly, my favorite burger joint in Winslow...

Nice Sarg, Interesting formations. What forms the holes, birds, wind, people?

Are you sure that "Burger Joint" wasn't a watering hole at onetime. I think I was thrown out of a joint that look just like it in the 60's. Check the Post Office there may be a picture of me there.

Good question, Ba and to be honest, I'm not sure. Limestone does that because there are pockets of incomplete consolidation. That might be the reason here. Sandstone doesn't do that often.

Burger joints like that didn't serve alcohol, just burgers floating in grease and fries of course.

I almost took a picture of the post office but passed cause it didn't appear that old.
