Ok... this is the place where all trauma is welcome and supported, and is not diagnosis specific. Whilst the affect after trauma is classified as an adjustment disorder when within certain boundaries, more often than not, most people would never get diagnosed when depressed, anxious, angry or behavioural due to something that has occurred in their life that has created negative emotion.

So... [DLMURL="http://www.myadjustmentdisorder.com"]My Adjustment Disorder[/DLMURL] is the place where all trauma is welcome, and is not diagnostic specific.

I will be progressively building its article repository over the coming months as the sites foundation, based on new member interaction. The article repository there, will be what is coming here to house a majority of documents, member documents and articles wanting to write / share, so forth.

That site is trauma, trauma, trauma focused... nothing else.

It is better for me, IMO... as I finished with healing my trauma and learning to manage PTSD long ago. Sure, I still constantly learn things here and there and try to improve my ability in managing PTSD and riding out the hard days, but overall there is little more I can do on me with PTSD. It is what it is now and I am one of the 5% with the shitty version... which I manage pretty well considering where I began with it.

I don't manage the other sites... they're all done by others. Even the combat site is self-managed by the veterans, not me. My role is minimal there. Really I have here... and now the AD site.

I enjoy helping with trauma, and this one will allow me to step away from the PTSD aspect to help those with lesser to as complex traumatic events. I can't really empathise here with someone stating they have PTSD from a relationship breakup, because the facts are they can't be diagnosed with PTSD from that... yet their trauma is valid, but not for here unfortunately. If you make an exception here, then another is forced elsewhere and eventually this sites focus would be watered down, which I just won't allow.

There are other forums around for disorders and such, but they don't really cover supporting trauma. They're too clinical in nature and often lack real-life discussion IMHO. I've only ever come across one really good sexual abuse forum, though that is one trauma only and very specific. What about those sexually harassed at work? Relationship breakdowns aren't really supported well, anywhere! Losing employment, your home, leaving home even, and so on. There are all those minor to major traumatic events that the adjustment disorder site will focus purely upon... and that is what I'm looking forward to discussing with people there.

Symptoms are often the same as what those with PTSD experience, just without the disorder and often the severity and complexity of other symptoms mixed in with it. Trauma I find easy... as do I with PTSD. Looking forward to a new challenge.

I think this is great! Does the adjustment disorder have to be traumatic necessarily of can it coincide with ptsd? I know relationship break ups can be painful and leave people feeling very broken but are not ptsd. However, if you have ptsd, a break up or other adjustment may be magnified.

I am reading a book The Emotional Divorce because I have been seperated for 10 yrs but it has never become final for reasons I wont go into. I am now making it final. Being in this limbo and continuing to stay attached in any way has been a constant adjustment along with ptsd. It is really making me consider which symptoms are from ptsd and which are from being in this limbo and believe that allowing this arrangement has led to a learned helplessness. It is not volatile but is a nagging weight and forever changing circumstances-none of which I have had control over. I would be interested in your opinion.

The AD site is just about those painful (traumatic) events that occur within our lives, which can be of any magnitude.

Events can range from leaving home to live by yourself, relationship issues to any serious traumatic event. As stated here time and again, most people who endure traumatic events, difficult events in their life that are even considered normal, opposed to abnormal for PTSD, still endure anxiety, depression and so forth, and don't have PTSD or other serious disorder.

This is what the AD site does... it is there for everyone and anyone in relation to normal life events to serious events, and mental health diagnosis IS NOT of any focus or concern upon that website.
