My Best Friend In Life Was A Cat

I shared my house with this "cat" that moved in!!! I didn't ask her to, she just did! I knew I shouldn't have been nice giving Boots that milk. I called her boots because she was black with white feet. She was about 8 when she dumped herself on me... For 7 years, that damn cat taught me how to be lovable.

Boots was a "cranky" cat and hated people! My friends would visit and she would take their seat and not let them have it. She scared my daughter to get out of a chair because she wanted it! She was so sensitive that She didn't like being touched and didn't always want love and attention, She would do things deliberately to piss me off! And she did!!! Boots would ignore me for days if I was too naughty and I hated it :D

One year, Emma, Boots and I were in the backyard, and this "Rabbit" showed up (True story a real rabbit), took a liking to Boots and decided he going to court her... By the 3rd day, Bugs Bunny was in love with my Boots and decides he is going to hump her. Wel!!! The poor cat didn't know what to do, she wacked Rabbit, Bit the rabbit and didn't what to think with this damn horny rabbit wanting to take pleasure on her. So of course it was my job to save her from horny Bugs and it was my fault I let the rabbit visit!!!

Boots was so "tough" with people! One night, I was sitting down watching TV and this young Tomcat came to visit! The commotion from my friend the cat and the way she (She was having panic attacks) was clinging around my shoulders, whining in my ear about this little intruder. Out of the kindness of my heart, I evict the little Tom cat and the pr**k of a cat kept coming back ( The Tom Cat lost his way and was scared and wanted me to save his ass! So lucky for me, Tom had a phone number around his neck and went home happily). Boots wouldn't shut up about it for days!!!

You see, I never owned my friend Boots'. For some dumb reason on her part was she wanted to live with me! And I have know idea why, she just did! She and I would fight, tooth and nail to get dominance of the house and she put up a damn good fight! People came and went more often than she did!

Last year! Boots was getting really sick and I knew it was bad! At the time I was poor and couldn't go to a vet! I asked my daughter to drive me to the RSPCA. I was so stressed that I couldn't take her by myself (yeah I know, I was being a sook). They people there were so kind to Boots and they told me that her kidneys had failed and it was terminal, they put her down :( I felt like such a cruel man for just passing her on to someone else... and so I loved that cat with all my heart.

@Barconian , you're a true friend to this cat, as your story has me, all choked up. I hope have the courage to spare my 3 little ones, when the time come. This story reminds me, of how Star came to be part of my life, in November 2011. She has helped me, to love and trust others, again, despite being abused as a kitten.

There's something about the way you write your posts, Barconian, that improves my moods :) Thanks.
The last cat I had also reflected my personality in a way, I think he'd been mistreated by somebody before I got to know him and he's a bit traumatized, plus he got these grumpy moods just like me.

I was also moved by your story, Boots'll always be a part of who you are!

Sometimes Barconian it is amazing to me, the good that can come of someone, animal or human being that picks us. I've had a cat that had her kidneys shut down. And I have had cats that are my best friends. A whole host of them who enter my life when one is lost. Mend your heart and hopefully you will find another animal to care for. There are so many who are in need.

My childhood cat was Pumpkin. An orange tabby tom. He was my best friend too.

My cat Kimmy was my best friend as a child, the only one I could ever share things with. she was a gentle soul and I loved her. I have no memories of he not being there as a child - she died when I was 16 and it was a privilege to have he in my life. We got another cat, Tabitha, but she wasn't s friendly.

My sister has re-homed an 8 year old female cat called Nancy. I call her 'the killer cat' as she is just so nasty! She was 8 when my sister got her from the Cats Protection and we think she was mistreated. She will go to my sister but only on her terms and will hiss, spit and scratch anyone else. She is very skittish. She brings live mice into the house and drops them on my sisters bed at night and my sister has to spend half the night chasing these 'gifts!' She once found a mouse hiding from Nancy in her slipper!

Cats are awesome but they definitely rule the roost!

I'm glad you had this cat to love, and she had you. I can not imagine my life without the animals I have. I am very fortunate to have two dogs and two cats, no more, as my husband has stated he will move out. Truly, can't afford anymore. Otherwise I would push for more.

I had to let go of one of my cats like you had. Some people can not be there. That is okay. You gave her love. That is what is important to remember.
