My 18 year old daughter and I don't forget 2 years ago.She had an ex boyfriend that would not leave her alone and it was after she broke up with him.He could not take it seriously.Had the cops come out and he got out of a restraining order in court. We were so mad and it made us angry. Finally one night,he comes with a stolen rifle and shoots her in the back.I witnessed it and he had it pointed at her a second time.Luckily I remembered my firearms training in the Marines.Had the rifle in his left hand and pointed a shot gun at it ready to attempt to shoot her again.I pulled the trigger and the rifle dropped from his left hand .Luckily my neighbor Ray is a cop and he saw something was not right. Was off duty and seen she was shot in the back. She was in and out and taken to the hospital.Doctors said she was very lucky, the bullet did not hit her spinal cord.Would of been paralyzed from the waist down if that bullet hit her spinal cord. Her ex did end up losing the left hand, had to be amputated. Her ex was charged and convicted of attempted murder as an adult. Was 17 at the time and serving a 30 year sentence.Judge saw his record and we both agreed on his sentence.Daughter says I am a hero for saving her life. She does speak out what happened to her to women are in this situation.I do go to them for support.

Thank you for sharing your story. No, this is something neither or you will ever forget. But am hoping you both are in counseling or therapy and moving forward... A very frightening situation to be in with one of your kids.... thank goodness you knew what to do.... glad your daughter is ok . and you are a hero....

She has seen a therapist and doing well now.Has moved on with her life.It was frightening and did not want to see her die. When I knew the firearms training when I was in the Marines, this kicked in right away.
