My Question Is How Long Can Us Citizen Stay On Ssdi For Ptsd....is There A Time Limit..

I've been on disability since 2006 went through a forclosure and most recently chapter 7 bankruptcy

I would assume like most disability, you can stay on as long as your doctor says you are in fact disabled.

Life. You need to re qualify. What is your time frame? Mine is 5-7 years. They told me "recovery not expected" and that's why I have the longest time between re-certification.

I've been receiving disability benefits since the year 2000 (14 years) and just got passed over for disability review which gives me about 3 more years before I go up for review again. This means I will have had 17 years disabled by the time I go up for review again.

I believe my paperwork said that recovery was possible but not expected, so as long as my doctor continues to say I am disabled I will be receiving benefits. Also, I have developed several physical disorders since first being awarded benefits, which increases the possibility that I will be disabled into the future.

My quality of life has improved some, but there is much more room for improvement and I don't know if I will be able to recover fully enough to ever work again.

I also will be reviewed in 5 - 7 years for PTSD, and in the meantime, I was found completely and permanently physically disabled by my long term insurance. I have a really bad, degenerative back. My switch to retirement Social Security is in 10 years. I am trying to find out how to put the new finding on my SSDI claim.

Scary I know. I hit 5 years next year and if they decide I'm ok I don't know what will happen because I can't hold a steady job when episodes are so random.
