My successes since 2009 -
- I managed to leave an abusive relationship.
- I stopped smoking weed. I smoked daily for 10 yrs and one day I stopped.
- I used to drink daily. It's now in control and down to once every couple of weeks with friends.
- I sought help w/ therapy and made a commitment.
- I started to do physical exercise.
- I opened up to people for the first time in my life. - Big Leap Forward.
I think it's so easy to forget the successes and things we've over-come, or small hurdles that for anyone else wouldn't be an issue- but for us, they might be something that's held us back over the years.
Let's not get caught up in beating ourselves up for not being able to get out of bed in the morning/afternoon, or the fact that just thinking about completing a task might be over-whelming - What have YOU achieved or changed since you developed PTSD.
What skills have you learnt that will help you throughout your life not just through PTSD? I'd love to hear some :)
