I'm Adam. I'm 27 and from the U.S.A. I've been diagnosed with PTSD for the last three years. I was on a submarine that crashed (USS SAN FRANCISCO) in 2005 as we were leaving Guam heading to Australia. I served three years in the Navy after the crash and never had a problem with PTSD until I was in a car wreck in 2009.
Immediately after the car wreck I started experiencing symptoms of PTSD. I've been hospitalized four times due to my PTSD. I've done EMDR therapy, CBT, and recently tried ECT. ECT has been effective for me, but the memory loss from the ECT almost outweigh the benefits of it.
I've tried numerous medications over the years. I've found the one thing that works best for me is simply spending time with my dog. He has done more good for me than any doctor, therapist, or medication has.
I decided to join this forum to see if there is anything or anyone out there who can help me deal with my PTSD, or maybe there is someone out there who I can help. I never would have thought in a million years that I would be diagnosed with PTSD, but that doesn't change reality. I'm dealing with it as best as I can and thats all I can do for now.
