Oh, those subjects are great!
Ok, ok - I'm not a psychologist or anything but I think maybe I have a little insight - I don't know if there's a particular diagnosis for OCD that goes on in one's mind. My brother doesn't have the "typical" compulsions that folks frequently associate with OCD (chronic avoidance of germs, compulsive hand washing, having to have his utensils placed just so on the table, etc.) but he is highly intelligent. And he does this circular thinking about things and freaks himself out, and sort of freaks other people out with all the thinking he does, and his perfectionism in various areas. He also has tics, which he developed as a child. He's learned how to control those quite well though.
My brother has pushed a lot of people away because of going down into thinking suspiciously about other people, and getting agitated, then making poor decisions about his relationships. In other areas, he's been successful though. He's also, what some might consider, rather sensitive (for a man). For a long, long time he feared having a mental illness diagnosis. Then finally, a couple of years ago, he said something to someone that he shouldn't have said.
He was brought to a hospital for mandatory observation and they called me with all sorts of questions, i.e. had he ever been suicidal, was he cruel to animals as a child - all sorts of questions. Anyhoo, to make a long story short they kept him for a while and basically refused to release him until he started taking medication. He also had to go before a judge (because what he said was bazaar) and the judge gave him the choice whether he wanted to be charged for a crime or undergo weekly therapy for one year. He chose the meds and the therapy, and it's done wonders for him.
All this is to say is don't give up hope.
